Introduction to Haier Group

Haier is the number one brand of Major Appliances in the world. In 2010, Haier Group achieved global revenue of 20.7 billion U.S. dollars, with an increase of 9% of turnover and the profit growth is more than 8 times the increase of turnover. As of 2010, Haier Group has established a total of 61 trading companies, 29 manufacturing plants, P R&D centers and 16 industrial parks. Consistent with Haier's position as a global brand, the company employs over 60,000 people around the world. Since its inception in 1984, Haier has advanced through the “brand building”, “diversification”, and “internationalization” stages, and since 2005 has embarked on the fourth stage: "Global Branding." Haier has enjoyed a growing international reputation over the past 26 years. In November 2010, Euromonitor International, the world's leading consumer market research agency, released a report revealing that Haier is No. 1 brand of major home appliances in the world with retail volume share of 6.1 percent. Meanwhile, Haier refrigerators and Home Laundry are ranked as the number one brand with retail volume share of 10.8 percent and 9.) percent respectively. And Haier is number one brand and manufacturer of Electrical Wine Cooler/Chiller in the world with 14.8% retail volume share in 2010.1n April 2010, Bloomberg Business Week of US published The 50 Most Innovative Companies 2010 in the world, which included 5 Chinese companies, and Haier ranked No. 28 as the only Chinese home appliances brand. Up to the end of October 2010, Haier had applied for 10214 patents in total, ranking 1st among Chinese home appliance enterprises. Just in the first half year of 2010, Haier applied for 476 patents, 258 of which were invention patents. On average, two patents were applied for each workday. Haier also has lead and been involved in 262 national standards, among which 238 standards have been promulgated. In addition, Haier is the only enterprise from developing country that has become one member of the top management of International Electro technical Commission (IEC). In June 2009, Haier was selected by IEC as the first "practice base for standard innovation" in the world. Haier actively shoulders its social responsibilities, donating to construct 129 Hope Primary Schools and producing 212-episode children science education animation Haier Brothers. In addition, Haier is the only white goods sponsor of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. On April 30, 1999, Haier unveiled the America Haier Industrial Park in South Carolina, marking Haier’s entry into the US market. The park covers 46 hectares 
with an annual production capacity of 500,000 units. In March 2000, the first Haier refrigerator made in the USA was produced at the Industrial Park in South Carolina. On April 5, 2001, South Carolina named a road near the Industrial Park “Haier Road” in appreciation for the company’s contributions to the state economy. It is the only road in the United States named after a Chinese corporation.
